The Italian Music Week opens in Rabat on the notes of Gioacchino Rossini’s “Petite messe solennelle”. The concert organised at the Mohammed V Theatre by the Italian Embassy, the Italian Cultural Institute of Rabat and the Tenor for Culture Foundation is the first of six concerts that will also be held in Fes, Casablanca and Marrakech, until 10 December.

In addition to Rossini, the calendar includes works by Vivaldi and Paganini. From 7 to 9 December, the Duo Gazzana, formed by sisters Natascia on violin and Raffaella on piano, will perform in Rabat, Riyadh and Marrakech. The concert programme will include music by Grieg, Schumann, Bloch and Paganini. On 6 December, the two concert artists will be available to the students of the International School of Music and Dance for a masterclass. The Italian Music Week will end with a concert by the Milan Symphony Orchestra on 10 December at the Mohammed V Theatre in Rabat, which will welcome among its ranks six students from the “Mazaya” socio-cultural programme. The young musicians, who are beginning their professional careers, were given the opportunity to attend a training course in Milan to prepare for this concert, as part of the “Music and Youth” project devised by the Italian Cultural Institute in Rabat and CIDIM (the National Music Committee) in Rome and produced in collaboration with the Tenor for Culture Foundation.
