13 January will see the opening at Galeria Antecâmara in Lisbon of Valerio Morabito’s exhibition “Imagined and Designing Cities”, which has been organised by the Galeria in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Lisbon. The exhibition, the inauguration of which will also be attended by the artist, will be open to the public until 10 February.
The exhibition features a collection of drawings representing cities from all over the world. “My cities,” explains Valerio Morabito, “are collections of details reused to imagine and design unexpected ideas and forms of cities.”
The artist adds, “No drawing in this exhibition depicts an actual city; all are interpretations, translations and combinations of many different places, stories and books. These drawings come to life from an abstraction of gesture and not from representations of forms.”
