Italian jazz talents will be at the centre of the Balkan Jazz Showcase, one of the most active and creative musical events in the Balkan area and Southern Europe, scheduled to take place in Tirana from 26 to 29 April 2023. The event has been organised by the Italian Cultural Institute of the Albanian capital in collaboration with the Albanian Jazz Society, Associazione I-Jazz and Puglia Sounds.

Five bands comprised of young Italian artists — Giovanni Angelini, Daykoda, Michele Bonifati Emong, Satoyama, Simone Basile Quintet together with Gaetano Partipilo and his band Boom Collective — will be the protagonists of the Albanian festival, which this year has decided to offer its stage to Italian jazz talents through the Italy meets Balkan review, which is made up of concerts, meetings and masterclasses.

“At the origin of “Italy meets Balkan””, explained Alessandro Ruggera, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute, “there is the desire to offer young Italian jazz musicians the opportunity to present their talents to the Balkan public and, above all, the chance to weave new relations of exchange and artistic collaboration with musicians from the region”.
