The great Italian theatre arrives in Portugal thanks to the contribution of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs: the Italian Embassy in Lisbon and the Italian Cultural Institute presented at the Maria Matos Theatre in Lisbon the performance “Le Voci di Dante” by Giuseppe Montesano, starring Toni Servillo and produced by the Piccolo Teatro di Milano – Teatro d’Europa. Tomorrow, at Cinema Sao Jorge in Lisbon, as part of the Italian Film Festival, Servillo will present “La Stranezza”, Roberto Andò’s 2022 film in which the actor plays the role of Pirandello.

Servillo’s monologue on the Divine Comedy was attended by a large representation of members of the Portuguese government, including the Ministries of Defence, Parliamentary Affairs, University and Scientific Research, and the Minister of Education, as well as several Under Secretaries and senior officials. “Their attendance testifies to the friendship and cultural affinity between our two countries, including at the institutional level”, said Ambassador Formosa in thanking the audience in the hall for their keen interest in Italian culture. The Director General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Pasquale Terracciano, who is currently on a mission in Lisbon, also attended the event.
