As part of the celebrations for the centenary of the Italian Cultural Institute’s activities, Gioachino Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle will be performed by Maestro Michele Campanella in Prague on 4 April. The concert, to be held in the Conservatory Concert Hall, is promoted by the Italian Embassy in Prague and produced by Gabbianella club events, with the support of the Eleutheria Foundation. The famous composition, one of the pinnacles of Italian musical art and Rossini’s spiritual testament, will be performed according to the composer’s wishes, without a conductor, entrusting the first piano with the task of conducting and guiding all the protagonists of the Petite Messe.
Alongside the instrumentalists and vocal soloists from Italy, there will be the prestigious Prague Chamber Choir, which is back to collaborate with Italian artists after many years in Pesaro for the Rossini Opera Festival. As Maestro Campanella pointed out, “performing Rossini’s Petite Messe is one of the great privileges of Italian music lovers. Performing it in Prague, for the 100th anniversary celebrations of the Italian Cultural Institute, is a real treat, as enhanced by the ensemble cast”.
Performers: Michele Campanella (maestro concertatore on piano), Monica Leone (piano “di ripieno”), Enrica Ruggiero (harmonium), Angela Nisi (soprano), Adriana Di Paola (mezzo-soprano), Francesco Marsiglia (tenor), Matteo D’Apolito (bass-baritone) and the Prague Chamber Choir conducted by Lukáš Kozubík.
