A convivial initiative to pay tribute to Italy in the context of Art Basel 2023: with this spirit, the Ambassador to Switzerland, Silvio Mignano and the Consul in Basel, Benedetta Romagnoli, organised the cocktail party that took place last Saturday at the Davide Campari Lounge, symbol of Made in Italy within Art Basel.
The event, organised in agreement with the Director of Art Basel, Vincenzo de Bellis, saw the participation of Italian galleries which, for the whole week, exhibited works of great artistic value in the context of what is the most important modern and contemporary art fair at international level.
“For one week, the city of Basel is turned into an open-air museum” Consul Romagnoli said. Ambassador Mignano, on the other hand, wanted to emphasise “the fundamental importance of building connections between Italian entrepreneurs, academics, artists and collectors who work in Switzerland to promote the excellence of our country”.
As stressed by Vincenzo de Bellis, Italian curator at the helm of Art Basel since last summer, the Art Basel 2023 edition “celebrates the return to a totally open world after the harshness and restrictions of the pandemic period.” While concluding his address to guests, Ambassador Mignano said: “The fact that this top-level event is led by an Italian curator honours us and encourages us to step up this collaboration.”
The Art Basel 2023 edition was divided into two pavilions. The first hosted the thematic exhibition Unlimited, in which important artists on the world stage interpreted the trends of recent years. The second pavilion, where the event sponsored by the Embassy in Bern and the Consulate in Basel took place, saw the most important galleries on the world stage display priceless works.
