A mural, created by street artist Fabio Schirru, known as “Tellas”, was presented in the presence of the Italian Ambassador to Albania, Fabrizio Bucci, and the Deputy Mayor of the city of Tirana, Andi Seferi. The work entitled “Adriatic”, presented as part of the Italian Week and Mural ArtFest in Tirana, is inspired by the deep ties between Italy and Albania and in particular by the Adriatic Sea, an element of union between the peoples and cultures of our two countries.
In the words of the artist: “The Adriatic Sea shows different characteristics compared to other basins. It is an average shallow sea, the coast is flat and sandy. The Strait of Otranto, the stretch of sea that connects Punta Palascia (Apulia) and Cape of Gjuhëz (Albania) is the closest point between Italy and Albania. Thinking of a connecting point between the two countries, I immediately thought of the Adriatic: a historically important stretch, a connecting point between two lands with different traditions. Two countries divided, but at the same time united by the sea”.
The work was realised with the support of Tirana’s Mural ArtFest, Bashkia Tiranë Dekori and Polaroid Eyewear.
