On World Food Day, the Italian Embassy hosted the 2023 Stop Wasting Food Dinner at the Italian ambassador’s residence. The initiative, organised in collaboration with the Stop Wasting Food Association, was attended by HRH Princess Marie of Denmark, sponsor and partner of the organisation as well as co-author of the book Mad med respekt (Food with Respect), together with Selina Juul, founder of Stop Wasting Food.
During the event, exponents of Danish civil and cultural society as well as representatives of international bodies had the opportunity to discuss the many issues related to food waste as well as its connections to environmental sustainability and health.
Among the guests was Andrea Segrè, professor of Circular economy and sustainable development policies at the University of Bologna, who presented a system for measuring food waste and introduced the “Sprecometro” app. The results of the pilot project for the use of the “Sprecometro” in Denmark were announced by the Copenhagen Pro-School Committee, which implemented it together with pupils in Italian courses as a tool for food and environmental education in schools.
