As part of the “Week of the Italian Language in the World”, the Italian Embassy in Sarajevo organised, in collaboration with the local Dante Alighieri Society, the event “Una conversazione con Gianrico Carofiglio” (A Conversation with Gianrico Carofiglio), an Italian writer whose works are gaining increasing interest on the Bosnian-Herzegovinian market.
Introducing the event, which was a great success, the Italian Ambassador in Sarajevo Marco Di Ruzza underlined that the presence of a prestigious and world-famous writer such as Gianrico Carofiglio attested to the Embassy’s focus and commitment to cultural diplomacy, and to its recognition of the valuable contribution made to the processes of reconciliation and social cohesion in the country by the magnificent unifying force of culture and art.
“After the Sarajevo date of the Sanremo Giovani World Tour – the successful concert of Maestro Riccardo Muti celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Sarajevo Philharmonic – and the presentation of the executive design study for the Ars Aevi Museum of Contemporary Art, financed by AICS, the meeting with Gianrico Carofiglio was yet another piece in this splendid Italian cultural autumn in Sarajevo” said Di Ruzza. Among the audience was the Minister of Justice of the Sarajevo Canton, Darja Softic Kadenic.
The event consisted of a chat between Carofiglio and the moderator, Elvira Mujcic, a Bosnian-Herzegovinian writer naturalised Italian. The talk, which also engaged the audience, allowed the writer to discuss numerous topics: from his own sources of inspiration to the working method adopted during the writing stage, as well as the inevitable references to his previous professional experiences as a former prosecutor and ex-Senator of the Italian Republic.
