The official presentation of the book “A Thousand Wonders, A Journey to Discover Italy”, starring the world’s most beloved mouse journalist Geronimo Stilton, took place in Baghdad from 16 to 18 April. Born from an idea of Elisabetta Dami and already the protagonist of numerous publications for children translated into over 53 languages, Geronimo Stilton – present for the occasion in all his fur and moustache glory – travelled to two schools, an orphanage and an oratory in Baghdad to take the young Iraqi readers on an enthralling journey to discover the beauty, villages and picturesque landscapes of Italy.
Geronimo Stilton accompanied more than 400 children on a journey across Italy, from North to South, bringing them closer to the treasures of Italian culture in all its facets: from the artistic wonders of Venice, Rome and Naples, to the natural beauty of the Gran Sasso National Park, not to mention the Country’s gastronomic culture and centres of scientific research. All this accompanied by a “taste” of Italian to stimulate in young readers curiosity towards our language and its literary works.
The events, created by the Italian Embassy to Iraq in collaboration with Atlantyca Entertainment, responsible for the international rights of the Geronimo Stilton brand, ended with the distribution of copies of the book, translated into Arabic thanks to the work of the Embassy. The show and the books delivered, personally signed by Geronimo, gave the children a tangible and unforgettable taste of literary magic.
