On 29 January 2025, just days after the visit of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Italian Embassy in Manama, in collaboration with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), organised the concert “Breeze of Tarantella: A Journey through Southern Italy”. The event took place as part of the annual international festival “Spring of Culture”.

The evening featured performances by Sara Fiorina Colonna, Mariangela Recchia, Giuseppe Delle Donne, and Tommaso Massarelli at the Cultural Hall in Manama. It was a tribute to the traditional dance of Southern Italy, offering a journey into the rich choreographic and musical heritage of Italy’s southern regions, particularly Apulia.

In his opening speech, Andrea Catalano, the Italian Ambassador to Manama, highlighted: “I believe that our folklore and traditional dances have much in common with Bahrain, starting with the use of percussion instruments and their shared purpose of celebrating key moments of traditional life. This is a beautiful tribute to Southern Italy that we are keen to promote and share with our Bahraini friends.”
