Ambassador Cuculi, accompanied by representatives from Italian and Greek institutions and associations, inaugurated a red bench at the garden of the Italian Embassy in Athens, symbolising the void left in society when a woman falls victim to femicide.
The initiative is part of a campaign launched by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Tajani to highlight the commitment of the Italian diplomatic and consular network in preventing and combating all forms of violence and discrimination against women.
In his speech, Ambassador Cuculi mentioned Italy’s ongoing commitment in this area, emphasising, among other things, the priority of the fight against gender-based violence reaffirmed at the G7 Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Fiuggi, chaired by Italy, and the scholarships created by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the “Invest Your Talent in Italy” programme, which Minister Tajani dedicated to the memory of Giulia Cecchettin.
