From 10 October to 14 November, the “Italia è Moda – Italian Fashion Days in the World” (Giornate della Moda Italiana nel Mondo – GMIM) series is taking place, with events in Belo Horizonte, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo. Launched by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, within the framework of the Diplomacy for Growth, this initiative represents a key element in promoting Italian excellence abroad. Through its network of Embassies, Consulates, Italian Cultural Institutes, and Italian Trade Agency Offices, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs supports these efforts to enhance Made in Italy and foster its internationalisation.
On this occasion, the MAECI (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation) – ICE (Italian Trade Agency) “OpportunItaly” campaign is being presented in Brazil for the first time. Part of the Export Action Plan, it promotes business connections between Italian companies and foreign operators through digital business matching services and content focused on strategic sectors of Made in Italy. Following its earlier stages at the Italy Pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025 and in Dubai, as well as numerous promotional events organised by the Italian diplomatic-consular network over the past months (beginning with the Embassy in Athens), GMIM is now being held in Brazil.
In Belo Horizonte, the Italian Ambassador to Brazil, Alessandro Cortese, inaugurated the exhibition “Italian SportDesign and more…”, organised by the Consulate General in collaboration with ICE-ITA Brazil (Italian Trade Agency – Brazil office), the Sportsystem Foundation, ANFAO (National Association of Italian Optical Manufacturers), and the Design School of the State University of Minas Gerais (UEMG). Open from 16 October to 16 November, the exhibition showcases the Sportsystem District of Montebelluna and Asolo, the cradle of technical footwear and Italian sportswear, highlighting its innovation, craftsmanship, and sustainability. On 24 October, the Consulate General, in collaboration with ICE-ITA Brazil, will host a roundtable at the UEMG Design School, with participation from Italian and Brazilian industry representatives, designers, and importers.
In Rio de Janeiro, the Consulate General and ICE-ITA Brazil will organise the talk “Exporting La Dolce Vita – Beautiful and well-made: the potential of high-quality Italian products in the international arena”, in collaboration with the Federation of Industries of Rio de Janeiro (FIRJAN), hosted at the Palácio da Cidade. At the same time, the Consul General, Massimiliano Iacchini will present the “Moda Praia” fashion exhibition-runway at the ItalianNoRio Cultural Hub, realised in partnership with the European Institute of Design (IED) – Rio and Confindustria Moda.
In São Paulo, the Consulate General, together with Italian Trade Agency and IED, will present the travelling exhibition “ITALIA È MODA”, curated by Clara Tosi Pamphili. The exhibition highlights Italy’s creative talent, research and experimentation in fashion, featuring designers such as Federico Cina, Cavia, Marco Rambaldi, Francesco Murano, Durazzi Milano, Magliano, and Tiziano Guardini.
Within the São Paulo exhibition, on 18 October at IED, Consul General Domenico Fornara will open a seminar moderated by Clara Tosi Pamphili, with contributions from Marco Rambaldi, Daniela Russo, and Fabrizio Giaccone of the Guardia di Finanza, focusing on the creative process, product valorisation, and brand protection. On the same day, a second event “Exporting La Dolce Vita”, sponsored by São Paulo Fashion Week (SPFW) and led by Carlos Ferreirinha, will address the value of time and quality in high-end production.
During both Brazilian stages of the “Exporting La Dolce Vita”, the Confindustria Study Centre Report on the productive potential of high-end sectors will be presented. The report has been developed in collaboration with Confindustria Moda, Confindustria Accessori Moda, ANFAO, Federalimentare, FederlegnoArredo, and Confindustria Nautica.
On the eve of the events, Ambassador Alessandro Cortese stated: “The Italian Fashion Days in Brazil confirm the central role this country plays within the Export Action Plan for Italian emerging markets. Through initiatives in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Belo Horizonte, we showcase Italy as a system uniting creativity, craftsmanship, and sustainability, strengthening the link between culture and business”.
The initiative is supported by Italian Trade Agency and in partnership with the main sector associations, including ANFAO, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, Confapi Uniontessile, Confartigianato Moda, Confartigianato Orafi, CNA Federmoda, CNA Orafi, Confindustria Accessori Moda, Confindustria FEDERORAFI, Confindustria Moda – Federazione Tessile e Moda, Cosmetica Italia, and Altagamma.
