On the occasion of the second edition of the Italian Sport Day Worldwide, the Italian Ambassador to the Principality of Monaco, Manuela Ruosi, hosted an event at the Yacht Club de Monaco entitled “Sports diplomacy: a tool for dialogue for the well-being of the future”. The initiative highlighted sport as a means of promoting intercultural dialogue, health and social inclusion.
The event, held in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, senior Monegasque authorities and a qualified representation of the Italian community, brought together leading speakers and distinguished athletes who shared their experiences with an eminent audience.
The programme included a panel discussion featuring, among others, Professor Giorgio Meneschincheri, Medical Director of the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS in Rome and founder of Tennis & Friends. This was followed by presentations from Italian athletes residing in the Principality, past and present, – including Diego Nargiso, Max Biaggi, Marco Simone, Matteo Trentin, Jonathan Milan, Davide Formolo, Francesco Castellacci, Gianmarco Casiraghi and Massimiliano Mordenti, official driver of the Fédération Monégasque Motonautique and founder of the Off Road Club Monaco (OCM). They offered direct testimonies on the significance of sport in their personal and professional journeys and on its broader social impact.
The initiative – which was met with wide participation and appreciation – is intended to serve as the starting point for a series of joint projects, in particular with Monegasque institutions, aimed at strengthening cooperation and at promoting sport as a vehicle of physical and social well-being and a tool of intercultural dialogue.
