Helsinki, Celebration of "Italian Design Day 2026"

The tenth Italian Design Day was celebrated at the Museum of Architecture and Design, Helsinki, on March 9, with an event whose protagonist and ambassador, appointed by ADI/MAECI, was architect Marco Sammicheli, curator of Triennale Milano and Director of the Museum of Italian Design.

The event was attended by a wide range of experts and representatives of the Finnish cultural world, as well as students, and design enthusiasts, thus confirming the strong Finnish interest in our cultural heritage. Sammicheli outlined the theme “Re-Design” in a conversation with Finnish manager and entrepreneur Mirkku Kullberg, in charge of the restoration project of the Paimio Sanatorium, a renowned 1930s building designed by Alvar Aalto, and President of the Board of the Kullberg Foundation.

The Italian Cultural Institute called Professor Daniele Belleri, a Helsinki-based architecture curator and former coordinator of the curatorial team for the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale, to moderate the panel.
