- Is it possible to borrow books?
Only people living in the Lazio Region can borrow books, after internal registration at the Library. The local lending service can be activated for one month.
- Which books can be borrowed?
All catalogued books are available for borrowing, with the exception of:

- pre-1900 books;
- books in a precarious state of conservation;
- books located in the consultation rooms;
- periodicals;
- newspapers;
- official documents;
- dissertations and theses;
- miscellaneous volumes;
- grouped publications;
- maps;
- engravings;
- prints;
- volumes placed in special collections;
- general reference material, including dictionaries, encyclopaedias, catalogues and bibliographical directories, or material deemed to be of bibliographic importance, in relation to the specificity and integrity of collections;
- publications subject to special legal constraints;
- publications subject to special protection procedures.

- How many books can be borrowed?
Two works can be requested for a maximum of four volumes at the same time.
- How long does the loan last?
It lasts thirty days and it can be renewed for proven needs.
- Can books be photocopied?
In accordance with current legal provisions, readers are allowed to photocopy reading material by their own means, subject to the Library Director’s authorisation. The Library reserves the right to set limitations for the purposes of heritage conservation.
- What can be brought into the Reading Room?

- subject to prior authorisation, own books or photocopies, only where needed for consultation of the Library’s works;
- laptops;
- cameras or digital cameras for permitted and authorised uses and for declared study purposes.

- Can rare and antique books be consulted?
Consultation of the Library’s rare and particularly valuable books is subject to the Library Director’s authorisation, underlining that this is needed for study purposes.
- Which document sharing services are active?
The Document Delivery service is active at the Library. The service is provided free of charge with the connected libraries. For information and requests: ILL/DD@esteri.it.
