Trailer of the first season
The first season, Quando le armi tacciono. Diplomacy at the service of (re)construction, focuses on the process of construction and reconstruction following major conflicts, from the birth of the Kingdom of Italy until the fall of the Berlin Wall: six key moments in which diplomacy tried to point out ways of conciliation for overcoming the logic of confrontation.
In each episode, scholars and experts comment on the documents. Their characteristics, peculiarities and use are also illustrated in short videos accompanying the podcasts.

Trailer of the second season
The project “Storia orale della diplomazia italiana” (Oral History of Italian Diplomacy) aims to collect and make available online a series of audio interviews, in the form of conversation, with retired Italian diplomats. Conceived and coordinated by Ambassador Stefano Baldi, it was carried out by the Training Unit of the Directorate General for Resources and Innovation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and of the International Cooperation, with the involvement of young newly recruited diplomats who, during their training period, were in charge of doing the interviews.
The project also avails itself of the collaboration of the Analysis, Programming, Statistics and Historical Documentation Unit of the Directorate General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy, in whose Library some of the interviews were recorded.
The main purpose of the initiative is to provide a historical contribution for greater knowledge and dissemination of the tradition of Italian diplomacy. The systematic collection of significant and original testimonies makes it possible to preserve and convey a historical memory of Italian diplomacy and diplomats, through the protagonists’ voices.
The first series of seven interviews, in 2023, was conducted by the Secretaries of Legation of the “Francesco Paolo Fulci” Course, who met retired Ambassadors Paolo Foresti, Anna Teresa Frittelli, Ludovico Ortona, Michelangelo Pisani di Massamormile, Graziella Simbolotti, Ferdinando Salleo and Umberto Vattani.
You can listen to the episodes on the channel Voci dalla Farnesina, available on the platforms Spreaker, Spotify, and Apple Podcast.
Ancient documents preserve a past that is full of fascinating and often little-known stories.
