Economic Diplomacy/Sole 24 Ore – 10 September: Latest news from around the world. Denmark: Government expects GDP growth of 1.5% in second half of year

Denmark: Government predicts GDP growth of 1.5% in second half of year.

The new economic report published by the Danish government confirms the growth forecasts for 2014, as originally published in May 2013. GDP, which fell by 0.5% in 2012, should return to growth (of 0.2%) by the end of 2013, less than the 0.5% previously expected. The unexpected negative performance of the first half of the year should be offset by GDP growth of 1.5% in the second half. For 2014, growth of 1.6% is expected.

According to the new projections, growth in the Danish economy will lead to a substantial reduction in the unemployment rate, which should fall to 5.2% in 2014.

Commenting on these figures, Economic Minister Margrethe Vestagerobserved that the Danish economy is once again on the path to growth, thanks primarily to the recovery of domestic demand, in turn driven by private investment. The Minister expects growth in 2014 to be driven by exports, and by a stronger private consumption market. (Source: www.infomercatiesteri.it). Read more, in Italian.
