Attribution of ius soli citizenship as a residual and supplementary criterion

Acquiring Italian citizenship is:

– a person whose parents are unknown or stateless or do not transmit their citizenship to their child according to the law of the State of which they are nationals (art. 1, paragraph 1, letter b of Law no. 91/92);

– the child of unknown persons who is found abandoned on Italian territory and whose citizenship cannot be determined (art. 1, paragraph 2 of Law no. 91/92).
