Today, the Secretary General of the Farnesina, Ambassador Ettore Francesco Sequi, greeted 46 newly appointed Legation Secretaries on trial before officially entering the diplomatic career. The training course for the newly hired youths is traditionally named after an eminent diplomat and this year it is entitled in commemoration of Ambassador Luca Attanasio, who died in tragic circumstances exactly a year ago, together with the Carabiniere Vittorio Iacovacci and the driver Mustapha Milambo.
In their first nine months, the new diplomats will be engaged in innovative training modules at the Ministry and at the National School of Administration, in visits and in meetings with businesses, public bodies and international organizations and also in practical training at the Ministry’s offices. Once their nomination is confirmed, they will serve at the Central Offices for a few years and subsequently be sent on mission abroad, in one of the 300 offices of the Foreign Ministry’s diplomatic network around the world.
