Regarding the well known Datagate affair, yesterday Italy requested immediate verification from its American counterparts through the intervention of the foreign ministry, including the necessary clarification regarding this highly sensitive situation.
For its part, the U.S. quickly assured that every clarification would be forthcoming both as concerns the EU and its Member States. We are confident that, in the spirit of collaboration and friendship that marks the relationship between our two countries, the U.S. will supply all the information and assurances necessary in a timely way.
