Grants and prizes by the Foreign Ministry for translations
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation promotes the dissemination of Italian publishing and cinematographic works abroad by providing incentives to translation and dubbing/subtitling initiatives, as a strategic tool for promoting Italian language and culture abroad.
The Foreign Ministry provides two types of financial incentives:
- grant for the translation of an Italian literary work, which has not yet been published abroad, and for the production, dubbing and subtitling of short/feature-length films and TV series;
- award to an Italian work already translated abroad.
Proposals shall be submitted annually to the Italian Cultural Institutes and the Italian diplomatic and consular Mission abroad, according to the Call procedures. The expiry date for submitting proposals for the 2026 edition is March 31, 2026.

Centre for Books and Reading (Cepell) – “Traduzioni 2025” call for proposals
The Centre for Books and Reading has published a new call for proposals, “Traduzioni 2025”, aimed at Italian publishers interested in promoting the translation and international dissemination of works by Italian authors. This may include initiatives undertaken in collaboration with Italian schools and the network of Italian Cultural Institutes and their libraries.
The call for proposals, whose deadline has been extended to 18 December 2025, offers grants to support the translation of works by Italian authors into other languages, to be carried out with the financial backing of the Centre.
