Cooperation: new classrooms for South Sudan’s schools

The handover ceremony to deliver the infrastructure for the St. Theresa, East Torit and West Torit primary schools to the South Sudanese Education Ministry is taking place today, 4 April 2012.

The structures include toilet facilities, at St. Teresa and West Torit, and a four-classroom pavilion, with offices, in East Torit.

The works were carried out by AVSI, a non-governmental organisation, with Italian Development Cooperation funding. The project was initiated in response to a severe education emergency in this region, which is almost entirely lacking in educational structures and has a low school attendance rate.
