With more than 100 countries taking part and over 7000 foreign visitors registered to attend, AGRITECH 2012 is one of the most important international events organised in Israel. Italy is taking part with about 100 participants. These include representatives of numerous institutions: the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, the Council for Research and Experimentation in Agriculture (CRA), the National Institute of Agricultural Economics (INEA), the General Confederation of Italian Agriculture (Confagricoltura); and numerous representatives of highly specialised Italian companies. A delegation from the Agricultural Department of Sicily Region will also be attending.
Since 2011, the Italian Ministry of Agriculture has been co-funding an applied agricultural research tender with the Israeli Ministry (600,000 euros each). To this should be added the bilateral framework agreement, under which funding has been provided since 2000 for applied research projects in general.
Bilateral session – 16 May 2012
The event programme can be consulted on the Embassy of Italy Israel’s new website featuring commercial and scientific events. Italy will hold its own bilateral session – organised by the Embassy in collaboration with the Italian-Israeli Chamber of Commerce – at the Tel Aviv fair, on 16 May 2012.
The bilateral session will be opened by the Under-Secretary for Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, Prof. Franco Braga, and by the Israeli Minister for Agriculture, Orit Noked. Also taking part will be Paolo Alli, Deputy Commissioner for EXPO 2015.
Israel, which is located in one of the world’s most arid regions, has built up extraordinary experience in the agricultural sector, with highly advanced systems for irrigation, water recycling and purification.
