Expo 2015 – Bonino cites EXPO on women’s leadership

“The role of women in EXPO 2015 will not be a marginalo ne. Our ambition is that this is the first Expo on women’s leadership”, saud Minister for Foreign Affairs Emma Bonino in the margins of the “Women in Diplomacy” event held yesterday evening at Villa Madama.

Expo 2015: like the 1960 Rome Olympics , says Letta

“The Expo will be important for Italy and for Italians the way the 1960 Olympics in Rome were”, commented Premier Enrico Letta. “Those were the Olympics of the Italian economic miracle, a window that let the world get to know Italy”, he added, expressing the hope that the 2015 Milan event would be a similarly great opportunity for our country.

Women for Expo – First International Board

Women and food security – two inseparable concepts, and the theme of the first International Board of the Women in Diplomacy Committee meeting at Villa Madama, and of the seminar “Women and Nutrition: ideas for a sustainable future”, organised by the foreign ministry and the 2015 EXPO to be held on 14 November at the Rome headquarters of FAO. Both events featured the participation of Italian foreign minister Emma Bonino and integration minister Cecile Kyenge, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Jody Willams and activist and environmentalist Vandana Shiva.

Women for Expo, women a key to food security

The first meeting of the International Board of Women in Diplomacy was the start of two days worth of events, all linked to women as the key to a more sustainable world. The Committee for the “Women for Expo” project, presented in Turin on 4 October, intends to promote women in the field of food security between now and 2015, with the goal of giving a markedly female connotation to the EXPO by considering women’s potential contribution in the areas of sustainably farming/food production, nutrition and health. The International Board will also assist the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in setting up workshops and conferences and in promoting projects that improve women’s conditions in the world.
