The long dispute between the Panama Canal Authority and the GUPC consortium seems to have been resolved with yesterday’s preliminary agreement on co-financing the extra costs that arose during the construction of the new locks. The final agreement, to divide the additional 1.6 billion dollars between the Panamanian authorities and the consortium led by Sacyr and Italy’s Salini Impregilo, should be signed in just under a week.
