USA – Treasures recovered by the Guardia di Finanza Art Recovery Team on display in Wilmington

“Treasures and Tales of Italy’s Guardia di Finanza Art Recovery Team” is the title of an exhibition that has opened in Wilmington, Delaware and will run until 21 December 2014. On exhibit are 120 Etruscan and Greco-Roman artefacts dating from around 2700 years ago, recovered by the finance police over the years, as well as a number of fakes found on the antiques market. “This is an effective way of drawing attention to the efforts of the Guardia di Finanza in countering illegal traffic of works of art, but at the same time an opportunity to admire dozens of ancient treasures,” noted the Ambassador of Italy to the United States, Claudio Bisogniero.

The exhibition is the result of an agreement between the Guardia di Finanza and the International Council of Delaware, in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Heritage and Cultural Activities and the Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of Lazio Region. The initiative is supported by the Embassy of Italy in Washington and the Italian Consulate General in Philadelphia. Read more in Italian
