The 12th Science Festival – one of the Ligurian regional capital’s most important international events – will run in Genoa from 24 October to 2 November 2014. “Time” – in all its forms, from the evolution of the species to physics to climate – will be the Festival theme. The event will include interactive science and arts exhibitions, workshops, lectures, meetings, round tables and special events. The aim is to make science accessible to the general public by translating it into a simple, appealing and engaging language.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation will also be taking part, with 3 round tables scheduled for 31 October. Moderated by the Ministry’s science attachés, the round tables will discuss 3 key areas of international scientific progress, such as particle physics.
“Time” will be the Festival theme
The programme was presented recently in Rome at the Embassy of France, this year’s guest country at the Festival. The presentation was given by Festival president Manuela Arata and director Vittorio Bo, in the presence of Ambassador Catherine Colonna; the president of the National Institute for Astrophysics, Giovanni Bignami; and the head of the Farnesina’s Scientific Cooperation Unit, Roberto Cantone.
Once again this year, the Festival will be host to distinguished Italian and international guests such as Nobel Prize winner Serge Haroche, physicist Carlo Rovelli, and other important figures from the world of science, such as Fabiola Gianotti and Sergio Bertolucci.
