Marco Vallisa, the Italian technician from the Piacentini company who was kidnapped in Zwara, in Libya, on 5 July 2014, has been freed.
The announcement was made by Minister Paolo Gentiloni, who added that “Vallisa is on a plane headed for Italy”. The minister expressed his great satisfaction over Vallisa’s release and his “warm thanks to all those who have worked to achieve this happy outcome. An outcome that is the fruit of teamwork by the foreign ministry’s Crisis Unit, our information services and the Italian Embassy in Tripoli. I wish to express to everyone involved my great appreciation for the dedication and professionalism you have shown and for your effective and patient work. And my special thanks go out to the Vallisa family for their confidence in the work of the institutions”.
