Geneva paid tribute to the contribution that Italian emigration made to the construction and development of that city with the dedication of a commemorative stele in the city’s very central Place des Alpes. The initiative was promoted by the Societa’ delle Associazioni Italiane di Ginevra (SAIG), an organisation of Italian associations in Geneva that successfully involved the city administration, in particular administrative advisor Guillaume Barazzone.
