On 2 September, four champions of Italy’s winning 2006 World Cup team – Fabio Cannavaro, Simone Perrotta, Gianluca Zambrotta and Simone Barone – will join other greats such as Totò Schillaci, ‘Penna Bianca’ Fabrizio Ravanelli, Damiano Tommasi, Stefano Tacconi and Antonio Benarrivo as the “Azzurri Stars”. They will be matched in the new Brazzaville stadium, under the direction of coach Renzo Ulivieri, President of the Italian Coaching Association (Aiac) and director of the Coverciano Coaching School, against a Congolese team. The event has been organised by the FIGC in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Italian Coaching Association and the Committee for Roma 2024, with a view to enhancing the Made in Italy image.
