Common rules on repatriation and the right to asylum, urges Gentiloni

Italy is working on a review of the Dublin agreement for a European right to asylum and common rules on repatriation, Foreign Minister Gentiloni has told the Chamber of Deputies. The Minister was speaking during the session on the future of the European Union, on which, he observed, “we have our compass pointing in a federalist direction”. Gentiloni underscored that the plan proposed by the President of the European Commission “is an important result that sanctions the principle of a comment effort that is not simply a ‘one-off’”.

Stage 2 of EU naval operation by the end of September

Minister Gentiloni deemed it “realistic” that stage 2 of the naval operation decided by the EU to identify human traffickers’ boats and destroy them in international waters could be implemented by the end of September 2015.
