The 6th edition of the Italian Language Olympics is over and the winners proclaimed. The 2016 Olympics included participants also from Italian seetions and Italian schools abroad. Julia Victoria Rodriguez Suarez and Kristi Nika, from Italian public schools in Madrid and Athens respectively, won the gold medal for the junior and senior categories of the international group. Livia Marella, from the ‘Roma’ Italian school in Algiers and Piero Alberti from the European school in Frankfurt, also participated in the competition. The prizes consisted of three stays abroad offered by Italy’s Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ministry.
“Italian Language and Creativity – Brands and Customs, Fashion and Design”
The bilingual section of the Italian-Slovak Saru High School in Bratislava, the Italian-Czeck section of the Ustavni High School in Prague and the Italian State school in Madrid, in collaboration with the local Italian diplomatic and consular offices and the Italian Institutes of Culture, will play host to the winners of the competition in October. The stays will take place during the 16th Week of Italian Language in the world, whose theme will be “Italian Language and Creativity: Brands and Customs, Fashion and Design”. The Italian Language Olympics are promoted by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Accademia della Crusca and the “Associazione per la Storia della Lingua Italia”, under the High Patronage of the Presidency of the Republic. Thanks to the Farnesina, the competition has also been extended to Italian schools and departments abroad.
