Tunisia – Democratic processes and cooperation perspectives

A multi-voiced debate links Tunisia and Italy’s Friuli Venezia Giulia region as a sign of democracy and cooperation. “Democratic processes in Tunisia and cooperation and development perspectives in the Mediterranean Basin” is the title chosen for the forum scheduled on April 9 at the Palazzo della Regione in Trieste as part of the “DevolepMed” project. The forum, which will be attended by numerous representatives of institutions, will focus on the theme of cooperation and the promotion of democracy in the North African Country. The forum will be further enriched with a contribution by the “Tunisian national dialogue quartet”, the Noble Peace Prize winner for 2015. The forum will open at 10:30 a.m. in the State Hall of the Palazzo della Regione with an address by the Mayor of Trieste, Roberto Cosolino and by the Plenipotentiary Minister of the Embassy of Tunisia in Italy, Mohamed Ali Ben Abid, followed by contributions by Counsellor Peroni and “Tunisian national dialogue quartet”. The Friuli Venezia Giulia region supports Tunisia’s democratisation process by factually contributing to the initiatives of civil society organisations and by developing cultural and economic relations, thus setting an example to follow in a context – the Mediterranean area – that is characterised by conflicts and tensions that generate suffering, poverty and eradication.
