Italian comedy films are coming to Israeli film libraries thanks to the ADAMAS Cultural Association (Roma-Tel Aviv) in cooperation with the Italian Cultural Institutes of Tel Aviv and Haifa, with the patronage of the Italian Embassy in Tel Aviv and with the support of the Istituto Luce Cinecittà Filmitalia and of the Cineteca Nazionale of Rome. Nine films featuring Alberto Sordi – one of the foremost actors in the history of Italian cinema and representative par excellence of the Roman spirit – and will be screened in the film libraries of Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, Herzliya, Holon and Sderot. The nine films are restored copies in digital format of films that have not been viewed in Israeli cinema halls for decades: “Il vedovo” by Dino Risi; “Bravissimo” by Luigi Filippo D’Amico; “Un americano a Roma” by Steno; an episode of the film “I complessi”; “Detenuto in attesa di giudizio” by Nanni Loy; “Riusciranno i nostri eroi?” by Ettore Scola; “Racconti d’estate” by Gianni Franciolini; “Il marito” by Nanni Loy; and the episode directed and interpreted by Sordi, “Vacanze intelligenti” from the film “Dove vai in vacanza?”.
On the occasion of this film festival there will also be two films screened that are conserved in the Film Library of Jerusalem: “La storia di un giovane povero” by Scola and “Io so che tu sai che io so”, directed by Alberto Sordi himself.
The event is scheduled to take place from Wednesday 14 September to Friday 30 September.
