Unesco Pizza Petition

Naples will host the presentation of the book “#pizzaUnesco orgoglio italiano nel mondo. La sfida continua: obiettivo 100 Paesi” (#pizzaUnesco Italian pride in the world – the challenge continues: objective 100 countries). The event will take place tomorrow at the Pizza Village on the famous Via Caracciolo. The hashtag #pizzaUnesco is an international petition for the “Art of Neapolitan Pizzaiuoli” (pizza-makers) to be included in the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It was launched by the president of the UniVerde Foundation, Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio, in 2014. The presentation will be attended by Vincenzo De Luca,  Director General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation of Italy’s Foreign Ministry, as well as Mr Pecoraro Scanio himself, the book’s curator Massimo Boddi, and the event manager at Napoli Pizza Village, Alessandro Marinacci. Other attendees will include: Roberto Moncalvo, president of the Italian Association of Farmers (Coldiretti); Luca Bianchi, head of the Competitive Policies, Agrifood Quality, Horseracing and Fishing Department of the Italian Ministry of Agriculture; Sergio Miccu’, president of the Neapolitan Pizza-maker Association; Pier Luigi Petrillo, candidacy coordinator and legal advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture; and Paolo Torino, owner of Canale 21.
