Minister Moavero meets with his Japanese counterpart

On the occasion of today’s United Nations General Assembly in New York, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Enzo Moavero Milanesi, had a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Japan, Taro Kono.  

During the in-depth conversation, the two Ministers agreed on establishing a permanent mechanism to assure systematic consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Italy and Japan, thus making it possible to reach the required agreement both at political level and between their respective Administrations so as finetune cooperation on issues of bilateral and multilateral interest and to enable them to give a coordinated response to major international issues.

The two ministers made an overview of the situation in the principal areas of crisis of greatest interest to them respectively, namely North Korea and Libya, and expressed their common support for an international free trade system, free of barriers and prevarications. Lastly, they reaffirmed their wish to boost mutual trade and investments.
