The Week of Italian Cuisine in Belgium

To celebrate the 3rd edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine, the Italian Ambassador to Belgium, Elena Basile, held a dinner with Chef Alessandro Circiello to promote the Mediterranean Diet and the points of excellence of the Italian agri-food sector at her Residence on 29 November 2018.
To celebrate the 3rd edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine, the Italian Ambassador to Belgium, Elena Basile, held a dinner at the Residence at which Chef Alessandro Circiello illustrated the main characteristics of the Mediterranean Diet. The dinner offered the opportunity to taste the healthy food of the Mediterranean Diet, which is broadly recognised to be a nutritional model because of its beneficial effects on health, including the prevention of obesity and of cardio-vascular diseases. The dinner was attended by numerous representatives of the Belgian press and Authorities, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Siegfried Bracke, the Federal Minister for Mobility, François Bellot, and the Governor of the Province of Namur, Denis Mathen, in addition to members of the Belgian society and of the world of economics and culture, such as writer David Van Reybrouck, the author of the book ‘’Congo’’, which was awarded the Premio Roma at the Residence last April. Present at the dinner were also the representatives of the major Italian businesses operating in the Country and the institutional partners of the Week of Italian Cuisine, such as ICE-Agency and the Belgian-Italian Chamber of Commerce, in addition to numerous Ambassadors members of the Group Gastronomique des Ambassadeurs.  The dinner was prepared by the Chefs members of the Belgium Section of the Federazione Italiana Cuochi (FIC), including the President of the Section FIC-Belgium, Pino Nacci; Igor Rosi and Giorgio Scainelli (from the Restaurant Bocconi, Brussels); Andrea Todisco (from the Restaurant Orchidea, Waremme); Nicola Lufrano (from the Restaurant Il Pastaiolo, Antwerp); Giovanni Ruggeri (from the Restaurant Il Forno Rosso, Wijnegem); Stefano Rella (from the Restaurant La Panzerottata, Brussels); Rosy Capobianco and Domenico Antonio Pecchia (from the Restaurant Giusto Gusto Diest).
