A shower of events will accompany this year’s 3rd Week of Italian Cuisine in Ukraine, with events scheduled in the Country’s four corners. Organised by the Italian Embassy with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute and the office of the ICE Agency, the Week will officially kick off with a Gala Dinner in Kiev’s prestigious restaurant Vino e Cucina on 21 November, which will count on the attendance of Italian Michelin star-winning Chef and Ambassador of Taste, Eugenio Boer, who will also hold two masterclasses dedicated to “Fresh Pasta as the Driver of Innovation and Tradition”. The restaurants belonging to the La Famiglia Group and to the Large Distribution Chains Silpo, Le Silpo and Wine Time, which have points of sale in numerous cities throughout the Country, will organise promotional events of Italian cuisine and typical Italian products. The agenda includes an event dedicated to the Sicilian confectionary tradition, with a tasting at the Panna ice-cream shop for the children of the Dante Alighieri Italian School in Kiev, curated by Chef Gaetano Sgroi who, throughout the week, will also promote the “Pasta Pesto Day” at the Ristorante Teatro to support the city of Genoa. The Week will close in Kiev with the “3P Event”, a reception at the Hotel Intercontinental dedicated to Prosecco, Prosciutto and Parmigiano aimed at promoting and protecting important Geographical Indications, supporting the candidacy of the “Colline del Prosecco di Conegliano-Valdobbiadene” to be included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites and the candidacy of the city of Parma to host the 2019 UNESCO World Forum on creative food industries with the attendance of important Italian winemakers and the Prosciutto Consortia of Parma and Parma Alimentare. The Week will close with two important events: in Odessa on 2 December offering the classical “Aperitivo all’Italiana” at the Fitz Bar and in Kharkiv on 7 December, where Maestro Aurelio Canonici will dedicate his “Music and Food” Concert to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the death of Gioacchino Rossini. Italian Ambassador La Cecilia said: “The great welcome extended by the Ukrainian public to the cuisine and the products found on our tables shows this sector’s extraordinary growth potential. In Ukraine there is enormous room for Italy’s agri-food products, large distribution, high-quality restaurants, not to mention the offer of tourist destinations, and the Week of Italian Cuisine continually enables us to corroborate this potential.”
