Italian Design Day in Kiev with Assocalzaturifici and MICAM Milano

Italian Ambassador, Davide La Cecilia, today opened the Italian Design Day in Kiev, co-organised by the Embassy, the Italian Cultural Institute and the ICE Agency in partnership with Assocalzaturifici and the MICAM of Milan. On the 50th anniversary of MICAM – the leading international shoewear show running in Milan from 15 to 18 September – the Italian Design Day in Ukraine was dedicated to Italian creativity and the future trends in the fashion and shoewear sector, which were illustrated by “Ambassadors of Design” Massimiliano Sarracino and Sara Maggioni.

“Ukraine is a treasure trove of talents: young designers and students that look to the world of fashion, design and to all that Italy has to offer in this field, with admiration for the aesthetic excellence, craftsmanship and professionalism that are the bases of the ‘Italian know-how’”, said Ambassador La Cecilia. The initiative was launched only a few weeks after another event entitled “Italian Fashion@Kiev”, which was attended by 24 Italian companies that came to the Ukrainian capital to present their collections.

He added: “Brand Italy has always been synonymous of high quality and has always been positioned in the high end of the Ukrainian market and Italy confirms to be Ukraine’s first trade partner among Western countries in the showear sector.”
