The NEST Climate Campus, America’s leading platform for raising awareness on climate change and environmental sustainability, was held at the Javits Center in New York from 19 to 21 September. The Campus was attended by large companies (such as Siemens, Walmart, Unilever, General Motors, CISCO, etc.), NGOs (WWF, the Ocean Conservation Exploration and Education Foundation, etc.), various institutions and universities, and UN Global Compact Leaders.
The event saw the first ever inauguration of the “Sustainable Italy” pavilion, a showcase aimed at enhancing the commitment of Italian companies in the fight against climate change. ENEL, Terna, Piaggio Group, Pirelli, Coldiretti-Filiera Italia, Confindustria Moda, Salone del Mobile Milano/Federlegno, Sanlorenzo, Sirmax, Florim, Gruppo Iren, WA:IT Botanicamente took part in the project.
The initiative was promoted by the Consulate General of Italy in New York and coordinated by the Italian Embassy in Washington, with the support of the Italian Trade Agency – ICE office and Intesa San Paolo.
During the three-day Campus, a number of presentations on topics reflecting the expertise of the participating companies were organised; in particular, the new frontiers of sustainability in the world of cosmetics, the circular economy in the trade fair and design sector, investments for the energy transition, natural rubber and the fight against deforestation, as well as recycling processes for plastic materials were discussed.
