Italians abroad: new benefits for citizens returning to earthquake-affected areas from 2016 thanks to a protocol signed by the CGIE

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed today in Rome, with the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, between the Extraordinary Commissioner for the 2016 post-earthquake reconstruction and the General Council of Italians Abroad (CGIE). The Protocol aims to facilitate the return of our Italian nationals to the areas of Abruzzo, Lazio, Marche, and Umbria affected by the 2016 earthquake, thereby supporting their economic and social recovery.

Through this agreement, the Commissioner will promote the implementation of economic and social development initiatives, as well as incentives designed for Italian emigrants wishing to return to live and invest in these regions. Meanwhile, the CGIE will provide its support in disseminating information about these benefits among Italian communities abroad to enhance their visibility. This will be a coordinated effort by the Italian system to create favourable conditions for the revival of development, including tourism, in these areas. At the same time, it represents a gesture of support and solidarity towards Italian communities around the world.
