Deputy Foreign Minister Dassù met today in Rome with French Minister for European Affairs Thierry Repentin, not least in anticipation of the Italo-French summit scheduled for 20 November in Rome. Their discussions included the European Union’s external relations, European Neighbourhood Policy – with a particular focus on Mediterranean priorities – enlargement to the Western Balkans and Turkey, and the EU’s Security and Defence Policy, ahead of a December European Council dedicated to the topic of European defence. Also discussed were strategies for the creation of an Alpine macroregion, to be added to the Adriatic-Ionian macroregion.
