Acting on Minister Bonino’s instructions, the Italian Embassy in Moscow has taken immediate action to help the Italian citizen, Cristian D’Alessandro, who is on board the Greenpeace ship, the Arctic Sunrise. The ship is at present being escorted by Russian ships and is sailing towards the port of Murmansk, where it is due to arrive on the morning of Monday 23 September.
The Italian Vice Consul in St. Petersburg is travelling to Murmansk and Italian diplomats are in constant contact with the DutchEmbassy in Moscow (the ship carries the Dutch flag). They are also in touch with British and Finnish diplomats in St. Petersburg to coordinate the action to be taken to protect the crew.
