Minister Mogherini meets Luciana Alpi, mother of Ilaria Alpi

Foreign Minister Federica Mogherini met Luciana Alpi, the mother of the journalist Ilaria Alpi who was killed in Somalia 20 years ago, at the Italian Chamber of Deputies today. The Speaker of the Chamber, Laura Boldrini, was also present. Minister Mogherini reiterated her own and the government’s commitment to discover the true circumstances of the death of the journalist and of cameraman Miran Hrovatin in Mogadishu on 20 March 1994. The Foreign Minister will be attending the opening of a photography exhibition dedicated to Ilaria Alpi at Rome’s MAXXI Museum, tomorrow 20 March at 16.30. The exhibition is one of the initiatives organised by the Ilaria Alpi Association to mark the 20th anniversary of the RAI correspondent’s death.
