The worsening situation in Israel and Gaza is the topic of a series of telephone calls that Minister for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini has planned for today, on the eve of tomorrow’s mission to the Middle East to meet with Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. The minister will be speaking with her counterparts in Germany, Frank Walter Steinmeier, and France, Laurent Fabius, and tomorrow afternoon will hear from British Foreign Secretary William Hague.
“The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has devastated too many generations. An immediate truce is crucial, but not only that. The time has come for the international community to find the cohesion and courage to put an end to one of the longest wars in contemporary history”, Mogherini asserted.
