Italian construction firms were awarded a full 17 billion euro in foreign contracts over the past year, making 2013 the ninth consecutive growth year on foreign markets: + 8.6%. Turnover from 2004 through 2013 has tripled (+206%) from 3 to over 9.5 billion euro, and currently represents 60% of the total.
The data emerged from the latest fact-finding study prepared by ANCE and jointly presented on 8 October at Villa Madama with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Participants in the meeting included Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Lapo Pistelli, Deputy Minister for Economic Development Carlo Calenda, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ambassador Michele Valensise, ANCE President Paolo Buzzetti and ANCE Vice President and Chairman of the Foreign Projects Committee Giandomenico Ghella.
Foreign markets continue to offer a strategic outlet for Italian firms, also in light of a domestic market considerably impacted by the downturn.
