Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Paolo Gentiloni condemned the brutal burning alive of two Christians in Pakistan. “A shameful act that provokes deep indignation”, asserted Gentiloni, who urged the Pakistani government to do everything possible to bring the guilty to justice. “What has happened in Pakistan is the latest unacceptable aggression against Christians, who are guilty of nothing but their faith. Our trust is now with the Pakistani justice system’s fair and prompt reaction”.
“Italy will remain in the forefront, in all international forums, in defending freedom of worship and combating all forms of religious discrimination”, the minister concluded.
