The Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Paolo Gentiloni, has expressed “serious concern of the violent explosion yesterday [11 November 2014] in Tobruk, which caused deaths and injuries. It is the latest episode in a long series of violent acts that are harmful to stability and to the cause of national reconciliation. The current situation”, added Gentiloni, “is extremely delicate and actions like this one can only raise the tension even further”.
“Ending the attacks is the first step to a resumption of dialogue between the parties, something that is more than ever necessary”, declared the foreign minister.
“Bernardino Leon, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General, is working for this resumption of dialogue, with full support from Italy and from our mission in Libya”.
