Gentiloni and Kishida speak on telephone about the threat of international terrorism

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Paolo Gentiloni, received a phone call today from the Japanese Foreign Minister, Fumio Kishida, for a consultation on the threat of international terrorism.

Gentiloni extended full solidarity for the two Japanese citizens kidnapped in Syria. He also expressed his appreciation of the 200 million euro allocated by Japan for humanitarian aid for the populations affected by the Syrian crisis.

Minister Kishida underscored the importance of Italy’s collaboration in the case of the two kidnapped Japanese citizens.

The two Ministers concluded by reiterating their common commitment to tackle the challenge of terrorism and strengthen cooperation in the information field with the aim of safeguarding the lives and ensuring the safety of their fellow nationals.
